Drone surveying, also known as drone mapping, uses unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to capture aerial data and create detailed maps of land. Drones can carry cameras or sensors, called payloads, that capture images in the visual spectrum, infrared, or point clouds. The data is then transmitted to equipment on the ground and processed using photogrammetry software to create 2D and 3D maps.
